From my understanding this version that we are using now on here is so highly customized that they can't blindly patch what they have with a new version out of the box. Do not expect an update any time soon.
There are features missing in the first 3. But out of curiosity, what features were removed in 3. Certainly the CSS and templating system is different, but I'm looking through the 3. I would also be interested in knowing what exactly is missing, may help me decide on whether to update my own forums or not.
What's so flashy about it? You do know it's fully customizable, right? You can strip out the tables, images, everything. IPB 3 is also much more CSS-based than any previous version of the software, making it much better in terms of skinning. After Matt has it released then I believe it's going to go Community Based after that.
Version 3. And it would be nice to see one of the largest IP. Board hosted forum upgrade to the latest release. I don't think there's any rush for Neowin to upgrade.
