Hi Guys, as title of thread suggest I am having difficulty connecting my new 3g iphone to my wifi at home via an orange live box. The phone detects the network but wont connect even though I enter the password correctly done it and checked it too many times to mention and set the livebox in 'pairing mode' by pressing the number 1 button.
Any ideas? Also is there any way I can save the password on the iphone so I don't keep having to punch it in? I reckon I will love the phone once I get used to it.
ZogsterJack Standard Member. Hi, I had a nightmare with a livebox two weeks ago, and finally ended up reading the manual of all things - still it did solve the problem. I had to press 1 and the router started flashing for 10 minutes, during this time you can attach new items with the relevant password etc outside this 10 minute window, only units already "paired" will be able to attach even though anyone can see the wireless ID.
Is it best to get one in UK or France and do they have an ethernet connector or do you need an adapter? Thanks in advance and apologies if this has been posted before this is my first post. We are in Vensac Ocean near Montallivet. Probably a good idea to buy one here. There will be no issues about types of connector. The cheapest phone you buy in LeClerc will plug straight in.
Cheapest phone, yes, but make sure it is compatible with ADSL The box that your Orange Livebox came in will have all the cabling necessary, and the instruction book shows you how to connect the 'phone.
Cheap 'phones are not always a good idea - you get what you pay for. They don't seem to last as long as some of the better known makes such as Philips or Panasonic. Of course its not a fashionable colour and has no bells and whistles like yours but it does the job. And for the last two months it has been working through an Orange deadbox without issue. You have been given some very good advice by Anonymous a cheap phone will not need electric as your live box does.
So when EDF goes off and it does and your live box doesnot work so no phone, you can plug your cheap phone into the wall socket and still use the phone. It's not just electricity that cuts, internet connection can be unreliable so having a phone that is independent may be a good back up.
You say you are connecting the phone to the livebox, you have 2 options. A standard French phone and use the T connector that you should have received with your livebox, plug the blue end into the livebox with a phone symbol. Or you can but a USB phone from Orange that plugs into the livebox usb socket. Of course you can have two phones And another which plugs directly into the wall via an ADSL-safe adapter which is your receiving phone, i.
In case of Livebox or power outage, you can always use your second phone to ring out as it's directly connected to the phone line.
I am somewhat confused about plugging your internet phone into the telephone socket in the event of loss of electricity to the computer. I pay only for the internet connection and I do not pay for a separate telephone land line.
Come to think of it, why don't we all try to do that. Post a picture somewhere of this alleged adapter and also one of your bunch 'lovely phones' which don't work! Your reply that the live box is fine all light are on and only the internet light flashing conveys nothing of value, especially as the second light is the internet which does not flash and the only one which looks remotely like a 'double prong', and which you've been saying is flashing, is the last one which is the firmware update!
Dsinformation and a scattergun approach are what have got this thread to 12 pages, I'm trying to take a more logical path but If I can't get the information I ask for then to quote Dragons Den, I'm out! According to the booklet no. Nothing to do with ethernet connection.
The one at the end that flashes blue when updating is an arrow pointing to a square, looks nothng like 2 prongs!!! I think if people cannot be nice or helpful without being sarcastic then don't contribute. You really are not helping someone who has probably got themselves into such a tiswas they can't think straight, and not everyone can express themselves as clearly as we would like.
Oh Dear, youhave to laugh, 74 postings to put one plug in the back of a livebox Wow, some people have no patience, not everyone is savvy about tech or phone problems people in the foum are trying to help After 13 pages of posts I hardly think there has been a lack of patience. Many people have tried to help and ask sensible questions There is probably a lot of frustration that we can never really get to the bottom of what the OP is doing.
If you take away the misinformation posts and the ones where everyone is just bickering amongs each other, I'm sure we'e only looking at a couple of pages! It can be difficult when you have the bickering, and also if you have little access to a phone, but your right the original post was for help!
Somehow it turned techi, and if your not that informed it's mind numbing If you want to send me an email, all you have to do is click on my name, click "send email". Write whatever you want and click "Send". I will scan an image of the phone connection and send it to you by emeail. Recent Discussions. Small Jobs. Power phone to electric. Livebox power cable Compter should be on.
ITRon Can take up to 48 hrs for phone to be activated? Sorry for the repetition but can you confirm - That one end of the cable is plugged into the charger and the other end to the Livebox? Why did you plug the cable into the green socket and not the Phone 1? It should go to Phone 1. Are you sure you're using the correct cable from charger to Livebox?
Is the telephone light on the front of the Livebox lighting up? Flashing or constant? Do you have a mobile phone? Try phoning yourself and see what happens.
You have been very patient and thank you for your time. Lol Like. A 'phone 'via the internet' is part of that ADSL stream. If you connect the 'phone to anything other than that, it won't work. As I said, it's not difficult. George's girl well I am no techi, and I do not have a Livebox, but a Freebox.
KenC Just a thoughT. ErnieY Just testing. ErnieY Nope, you can't post an image, what a pile of poo! KenC Tractorman. KenC Tractorman Since you have added that the phone connected to your Livebox is a Skype phone, this too is not relevant to the OP's problem since it uses a different protocol.
KenC Like I said, your system is not at all like the original posters system. That, in itself is one example that confuses the issue! Laurie Driver Hi Pilkington, I can't ever hope to offer the informed advice some of the other people have offered you as some of them really seem to know wat they're talking about.
However, the thing that has prompted me to get involved was when you said, "i do not have a dailing tone and even if i dial there is nothing " and I'm wondering whether you have a 'send' button on your phone that you are not be pressing.
Regards, Laurie. Melou Laurie Driver - that is a very interesting observation. Worth trying, Pilkington?! ErnieY all lights are green except one is now flashing the one that looks like 2 prongs I've just trawled through this thread again because I couldn't believe it had got to 9 pages!
What is the situation right now? KenC Sorry to go right back to basics, but are you sure that you are using the correct type of phone for internet use.
So, do you have a phone suitable for internet use? ErnieY That's what misunderstanding and misuse of technical terms gets you! Let me say this and clear up any confusion: With very few exceptions and none any members of the general public are likely to be buying or coming into possession of any phone which works on a basic landline will work exactly the same on a Livebox with VoIP, you do not need an 'internet phone'.
KenC So as suggested by myself and possibly others, you have the wrong phone which is not an internet phone. ErnieY I refuse to believe that this is a 'wrong phone' problem or that it's a missing adapter. Pilkington can you please answer these questions. The two ends of the lead from your phone are connected where? We will see Like.
Emily the image here is og the back of a blue car!! KenC If you phone worked previously as a land line phone, it is clearly the wrong phone for the internet. ErnieY "If you phone worked previously as a land line phone, it is clearly the wrong phone for the internet. Who's Emily? I asked: L to R what is the state of each light and which one are you calling 'double prong'? Pilkington wrote: "thank you so much everyone. Your Name.
